What is Coaching? (and how is it different from Therapy?)

  • I’ve been a licensed psychotherapist for 17 years and I know how important therapy can be. And many people enjoy working with a coach and a therapist at the same time. What makes coaching different is that you don’t need to dive into your history and you can get results fast. You may feel like you need coaching for just a couple months at a time (though you can continue as long as it feels helpful).

I was trained and certified by Guiding Mindful Change, a fully accredited program training coaches for 20 years. Mindfulness means, quite simply and beautifully, being fully awake to the present moment and all its possibilities. It means listening deeply, seeing clearly, being open and curious, and knowing ourselves intimately, without harsh judgement. My own mindfulness has always been the foundation of my work with clients, enabling me to understand and relate on a profound level, facilitating powerful insights and transformation. And there are many Mindfulness practices and tools that can be shared in sessions if desired.
